About
Expert version: QueryLog is devoted to one thing: addressing queries from the weblogs of Sedition·com; and, as of 12 July 2005, native queries from this site itself.
For dummies (doesn’t sound as friendly without the yellow cover and cute character does it?): When you type a search term into a search site like Google™ you get back a list of results. The list has links to other sites where the search term is found.
QueryLog entries explained.
When you click on one of those links a request is made to the new site’s webserver/computer. The information sent to the new site includes, usually, the search term you typed in. It is logged by the new site for internal review, metrics, marketing, or tracking. A weblog entry can look like this.
207.171.163.90 - - [01/Jan/2005:00:34:46 -0700] "GET /ddx/l/w.html HTTP/1.1" 200 3293 " http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=white+man+is+the+devil" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)" sedition.com
Queries from the Weblog AddressedThere is a lot of information in there but all that matters for this site is the search term. It’s highlighted.
Many times visitors end up at a site that does not have the information for which they searched. This happens because A) they don’t know how to use search engines correctly or B) that’s just how the content crumbles.
We take the time to address queries from the weblog as a service to our loyal fan base and another way to squeeze coffee money out of Google™ ads. It is also a nice free form alternative to our Devil’s Dictionary X™ which can be somewhat constrictive to the writer bent on some petty tautology or dog-‌eared vengeance.
Queries are printed as they came, usually without correction. Some answers are serious, many are not. Some are Rated G, most are not. This is not a site for children. Enjoy the benefit of your neighbors’ boundless curiosity with our compliments.

History
Though queries and responses from as far back as 25 February 2004 appear here, QueryLog.com started 25 April 2005 with the predictably insulting girls equal devil. The ones with earlier dates are transfers from Sedition·com where the idea originated and outgrew its tank.
