wolves attack cougar
While wolves are pretty tough in groups, the only tussle between the two I personally know about was just a few years back when a restoration group had a couple acres fenced in in a national park to acclimate a wolf pack before releasing it to the wild and a cougar went right over the cyclone fence and killed two of the wolves in one night. So a wolf pack might pester a cougar, but a real attack seems unlikely.
I like wolves a lot but as we discussed before, cats are tailored for killing and cougars are almost twice as big as wolves.
