1) You’re black and you’re curious about what is out there. Maybe you want to confront it. Maybe you want to use it to give yourself power over the place it came from. Maybe you’re just trying to make yourself mad.
2) You’re a student of language and you’re researching the word.
3) You’re a kid who’s heard the word in some music and want to suss out whether you’re supposed to be using it or how it’s supposed to be used.
4) You’re an ignorant piece of crap looking for like-minded support of your racist inclinations.
The capital letters give it away. You’re #4. Even so, I’m going to try to help you.
There are righteous and productive reasons to hate. Hatred of misery, of injustice, of oppression or compulsion. Hatred of skin is never productive. Hatred of skin puts you in the backseat of your own life, forever prevented from steering; powerless to control your own destiny; impotent.
