I was on Venice Beach. An old, good looking, black comic was riffing for a crowd. I was with Lisa and a couple of her friends. We stopped to listen. I was tall and in front so he went for me.
He asked a few preliminary questions to warm me up, not embarrass me too much. Then he got to schooling.
“There’s a white kitten and black rooster on a farm together. How many beaks does that rooster have?”
“One,” I says.
“And how many teeth does that cat have?”
I paused, trying to remember if I’d ever known how many teeth cats have.
