You can potentially hit the carotid hard—and especially fast—enough to get a clot to the brain but it’s not likely. A shot in the throat, however, doesn’t have to be all that hard to crush the larynx and friends.
Even though it won’t necessarily kill, it is debilitating, at least temporarily. It’s also one of the only points on the body which is just about as vulnerable on the 98lb geek as the 298lb steroid freak.
